Dardevle: The Greatest Lure Ever?

by Matt Navan

Everyone has favorites when it comes to lures. Everyone has memories of those favorites. But in this fisherman's mind there is only one lure to carry in that oversized, mostly unused tackle box, and that is the infamous Dardevle spoon.

Lets be honest, how many out of those 43 lures in your tackle box has ever landed a fish, of any kind. Speaking from experience, most of the fun of lure fishing is buying the darn lure. "But this one has three spoons, fish scent and seven colors...gotta buy it!" We've all been there staring at the rack containing hundreds of different lures dreaming of all the exotic fish you're about to catch. But, out of all those there's only one that has consistintly excelled in all types of water and have proven to land all types of fish.

Perch, bass, bluegill, walleye, pike, and catfish have all succumb to the alluring power of the Dardevle. Is it the unbelievable action, the color pattern, or the various sizes? I believe it's all of the above, plus a little talent by the fisherman himself (me).

The Dardevle is a favorite of one specific fish, the Northern Pike. Without fault, the pike hits this spoon more than any other fish but it's always fun to land a serious bass.

So, from this fisherman's experience invest in a solid lure and enjoy catching more fish, along with saving money in the long-run. I am not saying to stop purchasing the new and exciting lures cause I hear they now play music to relax the fish.
